Unity for the Gulf Concert

The next stop on the "Unity For Foundations" benefit tour was the House of Blues, New Orleans, Louisiana. This last April 20th, 2011 marked the first Anniversary / Memorial of the BP Blowout. Post a variety of other activities the grand finale was the first ever "Black Carpet" benefit at the New Orleans House of Blues the night of the anniversary.
A number of artists from music and film were featured, including headliner Kevin Costner and his Modern West band, and the Voices of the Wetlands featuring Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, Johnny Vidacovich, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Johnny Sansone and Waylon Thibodeaux. IN addition, a wide variety of other political, media and NGO celebrities were in the audience, including James Carville, Frances Beinecke President of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Robin Mann President of the Sierra Club, Captain Paul Watson founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and star of Whale Wars, Dr Ira Leifer Chief Mission Coordinating Scientist for NASA Gulf Mission, Environmental Attorney Stuart Smith, Bonny Schumacher (NASA/JPL) Founder Wings of Care, Dr. Riki Ott, Senator Robert Graham, Co-chair of the President's National Oil Spill Commission, and other special guests.
