The City of Joplin invites the following philanthropic Producer Partners to support Tornado relief and the rebuilding of Joplin: Tisha Fein (Grammy's, American Idol), Sunset Pictures and concert philanthropy Unity For Foundation.org. Headliner announcements are imminent.
In the Fall of 2011, Hollywood and Nashville are converging to produce "Unity For Joplin". Our goal: a historic concert to raise funds, awareness and hope for a new and better life for those recently impacted by the tornado. It was the most destructive U.S. tornado series in the last half-century, with over 200 mph winds, killing 160 and destroying more than 7,500 homes, businesses and other structures. It left an area covering 30% of Joplin in total destruction and its population in shock.
The beneficiary will be the City of Joplin's selected 501 (c) 3 foundation, The Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri (CFSWMO.org). CFSWMO will receive 95% of all ticket sales, sponsorship and donations post recoupment of all production costs (exponentially lower than typical concerts).
A full accounting of all production expenses and donations, and an ongoing impact analysis of all donations, will be made available to the public on the UnityforJoplin.org and Unityfor.org websites as of September 14th.
Initial headliners to be announced imminently, with additional headliner announcements in the next few days, and additional very special surprise Country Rock and other Pop Star headliners to be announced as the concert date approaches.
We anticipate a "sold out" show plus, potentially, reach to millions more via media extensions we are now negotiating. Post event media will feature the never before seen performer combinations we are delivering across an array of Nashville and Hollywood's most famous musicians – many with Missouri roots!
Headliners will be supported by the Unity All-Star Band comprised of "A-list" industry pros from Nashville and Hollywood including Anton Fig (Letterman show), Oliver Leiber (Rod Stewart), Orianthi (Michael Jackson), Scott Page (Pink Floyd, Supertramp), Reggie McBride (Stevie Wonder, Keb Mo) and Musical Director Martin Guigui.
In partnership with the City of Joplin our combined hope is to help cut in half the amount of time FEMA has set aside to get Joplin's displaced back into new homes via pro bono housing reconstruction and other projects that could contribute to this goal. Together we are working closely to do so in a manner that is sufficiently transparent and indicative of impact to inspire donors to give to their fullest capacity.
